Next regular meeting:  November 3 at 7:00 at Town Hall

Street tree inventory:  Tues. Oct. 12, 10-12, volunteers meet at Four

Brothers.

Streetscape:  Oct. 19 (or 26 as an alternate date)

 

1.  Minutes were read. No quorum present.

 

2.  Streetscape Public Review (Mechanic Street Residents &/on Businesses):

Alternative date of the 26th is only if survey is not completed by then.

Invite other interested parties for Mechanic St.:  Best to limit discussion

to property owners, can give input at end. Keep discussion on track. Invite

Ducillo, McGhee, Manning, Fire Company, Stan Whitehead, etc.

 

3. HVP Fair in Pawling: 12. October 17, 2004 - P. Riva – Lisa Coon will help

with booth, promote Town’s streetscape plan, façade plan. Peter will lend

her a laptop.

 

4. Website - the Town Board should request or produce themselves an annual

report (at minimum) from every committee.

 

5. Enhancement needs budget report from Town. Need clear set of

instructions, response from Town Board on Activity Plan

 

6. NY Main St. Grant Program was submitted Sept. 20, Dutchess County Dept.

of Public Works (Brad Barclay) and NYS Dept. of Transportation (Jim Rapoli)

have received streetscape plans, Morrison’s cost estimate and a request for

financial assistance with this project.

 

7. Mechanic St. is on Town Board Meeting agenda for Oct. 21. Peter will ask

Andy to do presentation with explicit request for authority to continue

raising funds, completing this project.

 

8. Signs – Herb noted that Stan put a brace on sign on 343 and this should

be done on all signs. Herb will ask Stan if he can do this. Herb and Peter

will begin working on construction of another sign. Need more lumber, and to

repair a sign.

 

9. Trees – Dolores:  Urban Forestry of Cornell and NYS DEC has agreed to

help us conduct a street tree inventory, which normally costs $1,000. Nina

Bassek, Lou, master gardeners and volunteers will do street tree inventory

Tues. Oct. 12, 10-12. Should take 1/2 day, though Red Hook took 2 days. 

Brochures are in the Enhancement Committee files for reference. Inventory

parameters:   Mechanic St. – rail trail, East (to cemetery) and West Main

St. – will describe type, condition, location (id with house), identify

spaces where trees can be planted. This is required in order for Town to be

eligible for tree planting grants from DEC.

 

10. Other:

 

No regular Enhancement meeting in October!

 

• Peter away for 12 days, beginning Monday.

• Dolores away through mid-November.

• Peter will forward artwork request for NYS Arbor Day to Mark Morrison.

• Kinderhook has wholesale nursery that sells bare root plants up to 3”

caliper. Planting at least one 3” caliper tree makes a big impact.

• Susan Gilmore will chair Townscape next year.
