Recreation Commission Minutes  -- January 11, 2006

 

Attending:  Pete Clair, Mike Murnane, Tom Werner, Orpha Thomas, Charlene Pollinger, Frankie O’Connell, Ken Pomeisl, Linda Gregory and town board liason  Vicki Doyle.

Meeting called to order 7:10 p.m.

 

Calender - Discussion regarding calendar information and the flow to the public. Possiblity of using the GEIS computer for public use to gain access to web calendar. i.e. posting of meeting dates and agendas etc. Vicki to report back. 

 

Monthly Budget Review -Discussion regarding December Monthly budget.  Questions regarding Directors salary Line – overdrawn and why?   Vicki to look into with Rose Greer.  Implementation of the voucher system is necessary.

 

Swimming -Discussions ensued regarding possible Swimming at Maplebrook and skating at Millbrook – Ken will look into and report back.  Tom Werner notified us of Aquatic classes at Wassaic Development Center  Wednesday and  Friday 11-12.

 

Recreation Master Plan - Steps required for approval of Recreation Master Plan were discussed.  Ken is to discuss with John Ryan what is needed for a public meeting on (tentatively) February 9, 2006 Town Board televised workshop meeting.  Also, the final Recreation Master Plan to be copied and available to the general public. 

 

Intermunicipal Recreation – We are all aware of the upcoming deadline (April 1, 2006) which Dr. Johns informed us of.  Discussion regarding liability and the agreement that we are willing to work with the school to achieve the necessary goals.  Pete Clair will meet with Dr. Johns and share this information with him along with possible solutions before the January 24, 2006.


Capital Projects – Ken and Pete to develop plan for presentation on January 24th. Funding of capital reserve projects was discussed and tabled until plan is in place.

 

New Programs – Adult Exercise (Frankie O’Connell), Ballroom Dancing (Linda Gregory), Flag Football (Ken Pomeisl) 

 

Pawling Corp/Salt Shed/Borden Park  Land  - Pete Sataro, Pete Clair, Vicki Doyle and Ken Pomeisl to meet and discuss. To report back on January 24th.

 

BiMonthly Meetings – the Commission feels at this time we need to hold bi-monthly meetings.  The next meeting is January 24th.

 Update:  January 24th meeting cancelled next scheduled meeting February 7, 2006.
