Amenia Recreation Commission

July 11,  2006 minutes

Present: Frankie O'Connell, Charlene Pollinger, Pete Clair, Tom Werner, Orpha Thomas, Mike Murnane, Linda Gregory - Roger Russell, Town Liason

Tom Werner made a motion to accept the June 2006 minutes and seconded by Pete Clair - minutes approved.

Joint Recreation Commission - Tom Werner stated that it is hard to get insurance quotes for 3 municipalities. The JRC is to meet again July 26th. Update to follow.  Ski Program is High Liability (amended by Pete Clair).

Pavilion - Linda requested $326.50 for electric services from LaCurto.   Board approved.  Linda explained the addition to the back end of pavilion - she will have cost estimates for August meeting for discussion.

Voucher System - Discussion ensued regarding the imperative need of a vouchering system. Tom Werner made a motion to immediately institute a vouchering system (all bills are to be presented by the 20th of each month to the Commission for approval then to Rose/Town of Amenia for payment. Pete Clair seconded and it was unanimously approved.

Cell Tower Monies - Tom Werner would like to know what is the current balance of the cell tower monies. Discussion ensued regarding the importance of knowing each line item's balance.   Motion made by Tom Werner and seconded by P,ete Clair to appoint Frankie O'Connell as Treasurer, unanimously approved. Congrats to Frankie!

Farm League - Pete Clair made a motion to pay for the trophies ($399.90) and seconded by Tom Werner (to be taken from the Farm League Line) unanimously approved.

Fall/Winter Programs - Pete Clair would like to see a brochure/mailer completed by September.

Hall Walkers - Mary Riley, Coordinator is having a walk on 7/17/06 on the rail trail. The Hall Walkers are to begin in September for walking on Rail Trail and inclement weather at the high school.

Indoor Soccer - Mike Murnane is looking into providing this to the community

Summer Recreation - Pete Clair has requested several times to Jenn Parks a list of the Amenia/Wassaic counselors, their hours and days. To date, she has not responded. Linda Gregory asked if the Town of Amenia signed the amended ($13,000.00) contract and the additional one from the Webutuck High School for busing? Pete to look into.

Hiring Process - Pete Clair to look into the hiring process to bring the summer camp to Amenia. All hiring of personnel for Recreation needs board approval.

Amenia Recreation Master Plan - Tom Werner asked if the Recreation Plan was approved by the Town Board and if so the Commission needs a final copy - to date we do not have one. Thereto, Tom asked Roger to look into the subdivision fees and when do they start accruing and to what account/line?

TriWall & Cell Tower funds - Pete Clair asked the Board and unanimously approved that he is to request from the Town Board that seed monies come from these accounts to complete Beekman Park and renovate Borden Park before September 2007.
