Amenia Recreation Commission

October 4, 2005 Minutes

Attended: Tom Werner, Ken Pomeisl , Peter Clair, Mike Murnane, Orpha Thomas, Frankie O’Connell, Linda Gregory, Roger Russell, Jim Devine

7:15 p.m. Meeting called to order. Pete Clair and Ken Pomeisl discussed that the overdrawn line items that occurred last month – monies were transferred by the Town Board at their meeting. Tom Werner asked for clarification as to the 2005 budget. Discussion ensued and policies regarding vouchering will be developed for future implementation. The Commission reviewed 2005 budget to 2006 and made adjustments. We reviewed remaining work for projection for end of year.

Peter Clair stated that the dugout are close to completion. The roof needs to be put on – a working group will be meeting this weekend. Discussion ensued regarding the two remaining dugouts and the pavilion. Since volunteerism is extremely low, we need to consider paying to have the work accomplished. Pete and Linda will continue to work on this project. Ken Pomeisl stated that approximately $2,500 will be needed for work on the ball field lights. Peter Clair will initiate discussion for the new “Chess Club” in Amenia. The Commission discussed the surveys and we will be mailing out the remainder to the south end. At the same time Pete will be handing them over to John Ryan so that we can get a preliminary data. Ken also mentioned that the website needs to be updated with historical information, directions, administration info etc. Ken to complete. Ken also requested that considering the high level of activity for Recreation he would like to have two meetings a month. Therefore, we will be meeting on October 18, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at town hall.
