NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
TOWN OF AMENIA

  NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town Board of the Town of Amenia will conduct a PUBLIC HEARING on the 17th day of September, 2026, at 7:00 P.M. at the Town Hall, Town of Amenia, 4988 Route 22, Amenia, New York 12501, at which time all parties in interest and citizens shall have an opportunity to be heard as to whether the Town Board of the Town of Amenia shall adopt “Local Law No. ___ of the Year 2026, Creating a New Chapter entitled ‘Smoking and Vaping of Tobacco and Cannabis Products on Town Property’ Prohibiting the Smoking and Vaping of Tobacco and Cannabis Products on Town Owned Property”.
    PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the purpose and intent of the proposed Local Law is to prohibit the smoking and vaping of tobacco and cannabis products on specific Town owned property, parks and recreation areas. 
    PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Proposed Action is a Type II Action as determined in 6 NYCRR 617.5(c)(33) and, accordingly, the Town Board hereby expressly determines that this action is not an action that requires review pursuant to the provisions of the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA).
    PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a copy of the proposed Local Law No. ___ of the Year 2026 is available for review and inspection at the Office of the Town Clerk during regular office hours, at the Town Hall, Town Hall, 4988 Route 22, Amenia New York and on the Town’s website at www.ameniany.gov.
